St Vincent’s is governed by a Board of Management, made up of customers, local people and professionals.  

Each board member can serve on a Board or Committee for up to 9 years.  We reimburse Board and Committee members with expenses.  If you are interested in becoming aboard member complete the online form.

Roy KnowlesRoy Knowles - Chairman

Roy is a qualified chartered accountant and a chartered tax advisor. In 2006 he set up his own consultancy firm, Laurem Consulting which provides VAT and tax advisory services, largely to the housing sector, but also to other not for profit and commercial organisations. Prior to this he was a VAT partner in a large firm of chartered accountants and dealt with many of the countries largest housing associations. Roy is the chief editor and co-author of the Tottel’s manual VAT for Social Housing, and is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, serving on a number of its technical sub-committees. He is also a local Councillor, representing the Longholme Ward of Rossendale Borough Council.

David McIntyreDavid McIntyre - Chair of Audit Committee

David is a Chartered Accountant and Risk Management specialist who has provided business improvement, transformational change and internal audit services to a variety of large and high profile organisations. He is currently the Chief Executive of Shared Education Services for Liverpool College Group, where he has responsibility over Finance, HR, Estates, IT, and Corporate Performance.

As Chair of the Audit Committee, David is responsible for helping to ensure that St Vincent’s evaluates risks and value for money properly, and maintains an effective system of internal controls.

Derek LongDerek Long - Vice Chair

Derek is a Director at arc4, the housing and data consultancy. He works with public and private developers to analyse markets, devise strategies and develop housing products. With 30 years' experience in housing, as investor, regulator, policy maker, consultant and non-executive, Derek has worked in Whitehall, the European Institute for Urban Affairs, the Housing Corporation and as the northern head of the National Housing Federation.

An Oxford-trained economist, his collaborations have included the OECD, USA, Korea and Dubai. His media appearances include BBC’s Six O’ Clock News and Breakfast and articles for The Guardian and the housing press.

Derek deputises for the Chairman, takes the lead on the association’s strategy-making and advises on communications.

Colin GreenwoodColin Greenwood

A qualified Town Planner, Colin's background is in Regeneration and Housing. Early days were spent working in Rochdale with the Community Based Action team, in fact working with St. Vincent’s to provide social housing in the seventies. He was involved in the City Challenge initiative and latterly working for Oldham and then First Choice Homes delivering the Decent Homes Programme and managing the repairs and maintenance service.   

Colin  retired a while back but is still involved in the housing sector through his board membership at SVHA, VHS and City Response Ltd. (CRL), Guinness Northern Counties maintenance company.

Chris Houston Chris Houston

Chris has been a St Vincent's Tenant since 1986 and throughout that time has always participated in Tenant Involvement activity.

He reached retirement age in 2002, but continues to be actively committed in a wide range of voluntary and community activities.

He has been a SVHA Board Member since 2008, and was a Customer Panel member and Chair from 2002.

Nick ColeNick Cole

Nick is the Head of Research at Manchester City Council (MCC). He has fifteen years professional experience working in regeneration and public policy across the UK.

Nick is responsible for the analytic application of the strategic economic and residential evidence base in the city. Current projects include developing residential investment and growth strategies across a variety of tenures in the city.

Prior to MCC, Nick worked for Drivers Jonas LLP (now Deloitte Real Estate). He started his career in the Public Affairs team at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), where he worked on the monthly RICS Residential Market Survey.

Nick has appeared on BBC News and has contributed to various articles in the property and regeneration press. When not watching Newcastle United, Nick is a chess enthusiast; fisherman and a very busy dad.

Nick became a full Board Member in May 2016.

Nick ColeRichard Morris

The Head of Finance at One Manchester Housing Group and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants  Richard joined the Audit Committee of St Vincent's in April 2015 and became a full Board Member in May 2016. Richard has worked in numerous business sectors including public practice and construction before entering the social housing sector where he has been in leadership roles for over 20 years.

Jon LordJon Lord

After working as a Funeral Director, Jon made the leap into housing in 1987 and gained his wealth of experience in a wide variety of roles.

He became Chief Housing Officer in Bolton Council in 2001 and was the Chair of the Greater Manchester Consortium for refugees and asylum seekers from then until 2013.

He was awarded an OBE in 2007 for services to housing.

In April 2010, Jon became Chief Executive of Bolton at Home and led the organisation in the transition from ALMO to Registered Housing and Regeneration company. He is the current Chair of the Greater Manchester Housing Chief Executives Group.

AnyaDr Anya Ahmed
(Senior Lecturer, Social Policy)

Anya has a professional and academic background in housing and an academic background in social policy and sociology. Previously employed by a local authority and housing association in policy and housing management roles, she has also worked as a freelance trainer and consultant. In an academic context, Anya has led a range of externally funded research projects examining the experiences of less heard communities, for example Somalis in London/Somalis in Europe. She is currently principal investigator for the evaluation of the implementation of homeless legislation in Wales, funded by the Welsh Government and the Salford BME and Dementia study, funded by Salford CVS. Anya leads the ‘Housing and Neighbourhoods’ research group in the Salford Housing and Urban Studies Unit (SHUSU). Anya is a member of the ESRC Peer Review College, is a CIH External Assessor for Housing Education, External Examiner for Housing Programmes at Leeds Beckett University and is a member of the CIH Professional Housing Education Group.

AnnaAnna Beaumont

Anna is CEO and Corporate Partner at gunnercooke LLP, one of the fastest growing commercial law firms in the UK. As a Corporate Partner Anna has advised on both M&A and private equity transactions, in addition to gaining extensive in-house experience at £1.2 billion turnover Enterprise plc (now Amey), where she advised on the groups acquisitions and disposals for a number of years. Anna’s depth of experience has been invaluable to the growth of gunnercooke, where she has successfully brought a number of large plc and private equity clients to the firm. In her role as CEO, Anna uses her experience to continue to develop gunnercooke’s culture and central structure, across both London and Manchester offices. Anna believes in providing exceptional client service. Anna is also a Board Member for gunnercooke Consulting; a management consultancy business which solely comprises consultants all of whom have held senior positions in industry. They are comfortable and confident at the board room table; managing change, galvanizing teams, inspiring action. Anna also works closely with gunnerbloom; a sister firm to gunnercooke LLP focused on developing entrepreneurial lawyers up to 7 years PQE.
