Charlie Norman - Chief Executive

Charlie Norman is the Chief Executive of St Vincent’s Housing Association.  Charlie  began her career in the Social Housing Sector in 1988, and has worked for Salford City Council, District of Abbotsford in Canada and Plus Housing Group in Merseyside before joining SVHA in 2003.  Charlie says it is a great privilege to be CEO of St Vincent’s, which is an organisation that makes a difference.

Her background is predominantly within housing management, with experience of working with a wide variety of organisations such as housing co-operatives and specialist BME Housing Associations, as well as skills and experience in stock transfer and regeneration initiatives.

Charlie has an MBA and in her spare time enjoys time with family, hiking and yoga

Asif IqbalAsif Iqbal - Operations Director

St Vincent’s has appointed Asif Iqbal as the new Operations Director.  Asif began his career in Social housing with St Vincent’s in 1999 as a trainee in the Rochdale area office.  He has successfully worked his way up through various roles where he has dealt with front line housing management, property services, managing area teams and then leading the Housing Services for St Vincent’s. 

“I want to ensure as an Operations Director the Association continues its strong ethos of excellent customer service through engagement with key stakeholders.  I want to ensure we can continue our social aspect and embrace the opportunities presented by recent changes to ensure we can continue to flourish as a social housing provider.”.

Yvonne McDermottYvonne McDermott - Director of Business Development

Yvonne is a General Practice Chartered Surveyor with a background in private sector commercial property management, valuation and development including a number at years at The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company and the Manchester Ship Canal Company. She worked  for 2 years in New York working for Related Management Corp. in the low income housing sector, a very different and interesting experience before returning to the UK spending some time as a Senior Valuer at  Manchester City Council.   

Yvonne has headed up the development of a range of new housing projects for St Vincent’s over the past 15 years, has undertaken the strategic asset management role for the organisation and served on the Executive Management Team followed by appointment to Director of Business Development.

She says, "At St Vincent’s we are at the forefront of remaining true to our values to house the most in need in society and combining this with sensible  property decision-making to create the most impact"

Executive Team & Personnel

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the team delivers a number of services to St Vincent's:

Housing Management, Supported Housing, Social Investment Team & Maintenance Staff

The Operations Department includes Supported Housing, General Needs Housing and Asset Management, providing the full range of housing, repairs and support services to a diverse range of customers over 16 local authority areas.

Our Social Investment Team work closley with members of the community, addressing issues such as crime, worklessness, youth initiatives and services for older people. Listed are a few of the specific projects the team leads:-

Development Team

Our Development Team is responsible for bidding for allocations and delivering the annual development programme. Although based at St Vincent's Head Office, the team work across a large number of boroughs, delivering both urban and rural housing solutions.

Finance & IT Teams

The Finance & IT Department looks after the Association's finances and provides the IT systems for the Association. The Finance Department pays all the Association's suppliers and employees as well as posting the rent we receive onto tenants accounts. The Department sets the Association's budget each year and provides ongoing reports on how the Association is performing against budget.

In addition we negotiate with various lenders to borrow money in order to finance our development programme as well as ensuring the Association is adequately insured. The IT Department looks after the Association's hardware and software to assist in the smooth running of the Association.
